This page shows the tide details for a selected port and date and, allows access to other tide information via the buttons at the top.
Use the buttons to select the port of interest, tap the date to allow a date to be selected as far as one year away. The tide details for that station and date will be shown.
The six key parts of this page are:
Selected port and date plus navigation and favourites buttons (see below). Use favourites, map or search buttons to select a port then tap on the date to select a date (any date up to a year in the future and 250 years in the past.
A graphical representation of the daylight times for the selected day at the latitude and longitude of the port (colours are; black – before astronomical dawn, dark grey before nautical dawn, light grey before civil dawn, orange before sunrise, yellow after sunrise), the time scale of the graphic matches the scale on the tide heights chart.
A chart representing the tide height for the port at 5 minute intervals for the 24 hour period on the selected date. Where available, tide means and maximums are also shown on the graph. Touch and swipe the chart to show the actual tide height at any time. A detailed tide heights chart is shown if your device is rotated to landscape.
Astronomical events for the day and port location are listed and a moon phase is shown. This is a scrollable area, a red bar is shown if there are more events to be shown off screen. Touch the list and slide up or down.
High and low water tide times and heights are shown. This is a scrollable area, a red bar is shown if there are more tide events than can be shown off screen. Touch the list and slide up or down.
A bar chart showing the average tide height ranges for the port for the selected date (in grey) plus the previous and next 15 days. A good visual reference to show where the selected date sits in reference to spring and neap tides. Tap one of the bars here to go directly to the tide details for that date.
The app downloads tide information from the Hydrographic Office in real-time so needs an internet connection via WiFi or a 3G (or above) mobile signal to operate correctly.
Note that for some ports, LW or HW heights and/or times cannot be computed, when this happens, the tide time and height is shown as “n/a” and the tide height graphic is left blank. Tide ranges are shown for dates when high tide heights can be derived.

Note that throughout the app, all times are shown in local time and are adjusted for BST/GMT as appropriate.
